CSAB Supernumerary: The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has started online registration and choice filling for the Supernumerary Round 2026. This round follows the completion of the CSAB Special Rounds and is a dedicated counselling process for supernumerary seats at three institutes: NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat. Candidates have until August 24 to complete registration and lock their choices.
Information on the exact number of available seats across categories at these three institutes has also been published on the official portal alongside the registration link, so candidates can review the seat matrix before finalising their preferences.
Who Can Apply
This round is meant specifically for candidates from the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Eligibility is based on JEE Main 2026 rank, and candidates must have their State of Eligibility recorded as one of these Union Territories. This round is separate from the CSAB Special and NEUT rounds, and registrations completed for those rounds are not valid here; a fresh registration is required for every candidate wishing to participate.
Steps to Register for CSAB Supernumerary 2026
- Visit the official website, csab.nic.in, and go to the CSAB Supernumerary section.
- Click on the registration and choice-filling link for CSAB Supernumerary 2026.
- Log in using your JEE Main 2026 application number and password.
- Review the supernumerary seat matrix released for NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat.
- Fill in your preferences in order and save them.
- Lock your choices before the deadline, since unlocked choices may be auto-locked by the system once the window closes.
Fee and Documents
Registration for CSAB counselling rounds, including this one, does not require a separate registration fee. Candidates should keep their JEE Main 2026 scorecard, Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, and Union Territory domicile or residence proof ready, since these will be required at the document upload and verification stage after seat allotment. PwD candidates should also be prepared for an online verification step as part of the process.
What Comes After Registration Closes
Once the registration and choice-locking window closes on August 24, CSAB will process the seat allotment based on candidates’ JEE Main rank, locked preferences, and seat availability across the three participating institutes. Candidates allotted a seat will need to complete document upload, pay the Supernumerary Seat Acceptance Fee, and report to the allotted institute within the schedule that CSAB publishes on its official website. Given how quickly this round typically moves once registration closes, candidates are advised to keep checking csab.nic.in regularly rather than waiting for a separate notification.
