CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation 2026: Application Window Open, Payment Gateway Issues Being Fixed

The Central Board of Secondary Education opened its Class 12 re-evaluation and marks verification window from May 26 to May 29, 2026. Students who were not satisfied with their board results could apply for three services through cbse.gov.in — verification of marks, obtaining a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheet, or actual re-evaluation of the answer sheet.

This comes at a time when CBSE is dealing with serious complaints about technical failures in its online payment system. Hundreds of students reported that while trying to apply for re-evaluation services, the portal either crashed, deducted fees without confirming the application, or charged them twice for the same service.

What the Government Is Doing to Fix It

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a high-level meeting on May 26, 2026, with senior officials from four major public sector banks — State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank — to plan a complete overhaul of the CBSE payment gateway system. Earlier on May 24, the minister had also discussed the same issue with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

What CBSE Has Promised

  • Full refund of all excess amounts deducted during re-evaluation applications
  • Acknowledgment that some uploaded answer sheets had discrepancies and correction of affected results
  • Banks directed to implement automatic refunds for failed or excess transactions
  • Real-time monitoring of all CBSE payment transactions going forward
  • Faster grievance redressal for students facing payment issues

What Students Facing Issues Should Do

Students who faced payment failures must keep a record of every failed transaction, including screenshots, bank statements, and any confirmation numbers. They should log a formal grievance through the CBSE official portal and note down the grievance number for follow-up. CBSE has assured that no student will suffer academically because of a technical failure in the official payment system.

The four banks have confirmed full cooperation with CBSE and committed to implementing the necessary technical upgrades at the earliest possible time to prevent any recurrence of these issues during future result cycles.
