Law aspirants across India are gearing up for the next admission cycle to the country’s National Law Universities. Over 75,000 aspirants compete annually for admission to 5-year integrated law programmes across 27 National Law Universities through this national-level entrance test, and while the CLAT 2027 Notification has not yet been formally released, the Consortium of NLUs is expected to publish it around mid-July 2026, carrying all official details on dates, eligibility, and exam pattern.
Expected Timeline
The CLAT 2027 exam is tentatively expected on Sunday, December 6, 2026, in offline pen-and-paper mode, with the registration window opening around August 1, 2026, on the official portal. The CLAT 2027 Notification, once live, will confirm these dates officially.

Eligibility
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories), and must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board to qualify under the CLAT 2027 eligibility criteria.
Exam Pattern: What to Expect
The CLAT exam duration is two hours, comprising 120 multiple-choice questions, with +1 mark for each correct answer and –0.25 negative marking for each incorrect response. The syllabus covers five sections — English Language, Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, and Quantitative Techniques.
