The IISER Counselling 2026 Registration window opened today, July 2, at 5 PM, with 2,343 seats available across all participating institutes through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026. The registration link is now active on the official portal, iiseradmission.in, and will remain open until July 9, 2026, giving qualified candidates exactly one week to complete registration, choice filling, and fee payment.
Who Can Apply and How
Only candidates with a valid rank in the IAT 2026 merit list, declared on June 29, are eligible to participate in the IISER Counselling 2026 Registration process. To apply, candidates need to follow these steps:

- Visit iiseradmission.in and click on the “IAT 2026 Counselling Registration” link
- Enter and verify personal and academic details
- Select preferred IISER campuses and courses, arranged strictly in order of priority
- Complete the counselling fee payment through available online modes
- Lock and submit your choices, then save the confirmation page for reference
Notably, students who completed Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or 2026 all remain eligible, provided they meet the other admission criteria.
Seat Matrix and Participating Institutes
The IAT rank-based seat allotment process covers admission to seven IISER campuses — Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati — offering BS-MS dual degree programmes and select four-year BS/BTech courses. Some key figures to note:
- IISER Berhampur alone offers around 300 seats, with candidates ranked under 8,000 typically in contention
- Two new engineering courses have been added this session, pushing up the total seat intake compared to previous years
- IISER admissions run only through the IAT channel; KVPY and JEE (Advanced) scores are no longer accepted
Seat Allotment Process and Fees
Once choices are locked, seat allotment will be conducted in multiple rounds — up to eight, based on past years — depending on seat availability after each cycle. Allotted candidates must choose between “Freeze” (accept and exit further rounds) or “Float” (stay eligible for a higher preference), and pay the Seat Acceptance Fee, roughly ₹35,000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates and around ₹17,500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The entire IISER Counselling 2026 Registration and allotment process is conducted fully online, with no requirement to visit any campus in person until final reporting.
