IIT Roorkee has officially released the provisional answer key for JEE Advanced 2026 on May 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM IST on the examination portal jeeadv.ac.in. The release follows the examination conducted on May 17, 2026, which saw approximately 1.5 lakh engineering aspirants compete for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology and IISc Bengaluru.
The provisional answer key includes solutions for both Paper 1 and Paper 2, enabling candidates to cross-check their marked responses against the official answers. IIT Roorkee had previously released candidate response sheets on May 21, 2026, providing candidates with their recorded answers for comparison purposes.
Simultaneously with the answer key release, IIT Roorkee has activated an objection window allowing candidates to challenge answers they believe are incorrect. The objection submission portal remains open until May 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST. Candidates must log in using their registration number, date of birth, and mobile number to access the objection interface. Each challenge must be accompanied by supporting evidence or justification for consideration by the evaluation committee.
The final answer key and official JEE Advanced 2026 result will be declared on June 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM IST. This result will include subject-wise marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, total scores, All India Rank (AIR), category-wise rankings, and qualification status for IIT admission.
A significant development this year is the inclusion of IISc Bengaluru in the JoSAA 2026 seat allocation process, making it the 24th institution alongside the 23 IITs for which JEE Advanced scores are now valid.
CRITICAL DATES & INFORMATION:
Provisional Answer Key: May 25, 2026 (10:00 AM) Objection Window Closes: May 26, 2026 (5:00 PM) Final Result Declaration: June 1, 2026 (10:00 AM) Official Portal: jeeadv.ac.in Qualifying Cut-off: To be announced June 1
Over 1.5 lakh engineering candidates across India are now in the critical phase of estimating their likely scores and ranks. The 24-hour objection window is the only formal mechanism for candidates to contest potential answer key errors before finalisation. Serious objections based on official textbooks, standards, or examination board publications have historically resulted in answer key modifications. Candidates should carefully review the provisional key, prioritize substantive challenges, and prepare psychologically for the June 1 result announcement, which will determine their path to IIT admissions and the subsequent JoSAA counselling process.
