With the MAH B.Ed CET 2026 result already declared, thousands of aspiring teachers across Maharashtra are now turning their attention to govt B.Ed colleges in Maharashtra 2026 and the scores required to secure a seat. The MAH BEd CET result for 2026 was announced on May 19, 2026, on its official website, and counselling (CAP) registration is expected to begin in June 2026.

Maharashtra offers a wide range of choices for MAH B.Ed CET 2026 aspirants, though government seats remain limited and highly competitive. There are a total of 301 B.Ed colleges in Maharashtra, out of which 251 are private and 18 are owned by the government. Government B.Ed colleges are excellent choices for high-merit students, offering the best education along with affordable fees, but competition for these colleges is high, with only a limited number of intakes, mostly around 50-100 annually.

Govt B.Ed Colleges in Maharashtra 2026: Score Required for Admission

Candidates often ask how much they need to score to qualify for a government college seat. Generally, scoring 90 marks or above out of 100 is considered very good for admission to top government B. Ed colleges, while a score between 70 and 85 is also considered a good score for many well-known private colleges. Many private colleges accept low scores in the 50-60 percentile, but govt colleges need 75+ percentiles, and top government colleges often require 75+ percentiles in MAH B.Ed CET 2026, compared to private colleges, which typically require 60-80 percentiles.

For MAH B.Ed CET 2026 candidates aiming specifically at the top-tier government institutions, the bar is even higher. BTTC Mumbai and Government College of Education Pune consistently hold the highest cutoffs in Maharashtra, and candidates targeting these colleges are recommended to score 82 or above (General) for Round 1 certainty. Scoring in the 90+ marks range during Round 1 can secure a seat at elite institutes like BTTC Mumbai, St. Xavier’s, or Government College of Education, Pune.

Govt B.Ed Colleges in Maharashtra 2026: Top Colleges to Consider

Several institutions consistently rank among the most preferred choices for MAH B.Ed CET 2026 aspirants in the state. According to cut-off data from 2025, Bombay Teachers’ Training College (BTTC), Government College of Education Pune, and St. Xavier’s Institute of Education are some of the top colleges, as they had high closing scores, especially for general category candidates.

Beyond these, other notable names also feature on aspirants’ preference lists. Top colleges accepting MAH BEd CET 2026 scores include institutions like K.J. Somaiya College of Education (Mumbai), Bombay Teachers Training College, and MIT-WPU Pune, which require 85-90 marks to get a seat in government and private colleges. STC is considered the most prestigious training institute with low fees, around ₹16,470 per year, while SNDT Women’s College is the best choice for female students, offering specialised BEd programs across multiple languages.

Other colleges with strong scorecard acceptance also include institutions outside Mumbai. Some well-known colleges that accept MAH B.Ed CET scores include St. Xavier’s Institute of Education, Mumbai, and Gokhale Education Society’s College of Education, Nashik.

Govt B.Ed Colleges in Maharashtra 2026: Expected Cutoff Range

Cutoffs vary year to year based on difficulty level and number of candidates. The MAH BEd CET cut-off means the minimum marks a candidate must get for admission, and the marks keep changing every year because the exam level, number of students, and seats are not always the same; the cut-off for the current year will be updated soon after the exam is conducted. Based on data from 2025, the overall general category cutoff scores range from 30 marks to 95+ marks, and the MAH BEd CET 2026 minimum qualifying marks for General, OBC, EWS, VJ, NT, and SBC categories are 30 out of 100.

Govt B.Ed Colleges in Maharashtra 2026: How Admission Works

Once the results are out, the next step is centralised counselling. Once the MAH BEd CET 2026 result is declared and merit lists are released, the CET Cell conducts the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for seat allotment, and round-by-round cutoffs will be published on the official CAP portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, along with the seat allotment results.

MAH B.Ed CET 2026 candidates should plan their preference lists carefully and not lose hope if round one doesn’t go as expected. Though candidates’ top-choice colleges should be the priority, it is safe to include some government and well-rated private or aided colleges as backups; candidates should keep their result, mark sheets, domicile certificate, and CET scorecard handy before counselling starts, and should not lose hope if they don’t get a preferred seat in the first round, as there are good chances of getting a seat in further rounds.

Key Takeaway: With MAH B.Ed CET 2026 results out and CAP counselling expected to begin in June 2026, candidates targeting govt B.Ed colleges in Maharashtra 2026 should aim for 75+ marks for general government colleges and 82-90+ for top institutes like BTTC Mumbai and Government College of Education, Pune, while keeping a well-balanced preference list across both government and aided private colleges.
