The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, has opened the MHT CET CAP Round 2 option entry window from 07 August 2026 on the official portal. Candidates who registered for Round 2 counselling can now log in and submit their college and course preferences for engineering admissions to the 2026-27 academic session.
MHT CET Round 2 Option Entry Schedule
The CET Cell released the provisional vacant seats list for Round 2 on 06 August 2026, giving candidates a clear picture of available options before choice filling opened. The MHT CET CAP Round 2 option entry process will remain active from 07 August to 09 August 2026, and candidates must lock their preferences before the window closes. This follows the completion of Round 1, whose seat allotment was announced on 02 August 2026, with the seat acceptance and reporting deadline set at 05 August 2026.
How to Fill Round 2 Preferences
During option entry, candidates can add, edit, delete, or reorder their preferred colleges and branches based on the updated vacant seat matrix. Those who already participated in Round 1 can revise their earlier choices, while fresh registrants who cleared document verification can submit preferences for the first time. Seat allotment in this round will be prepared based on merit rank, revised preferences, reservation category, and current seat availability across participating institutes.
Candidates are also encouraged to check the branch-wise and college-wise vacant seat matrix before finalising the order of preferences, since seat availability can shift considerably between rounds. Aspirants aiming for high-demand branches such as computer engineering, information technology, and artificial intelligence and data science should note that cut-off percentiles in these streams typically see only a marginal drop compared to round 1.
MHT CET CAP Seat Allotment Result Date
Once the MHT CET CAP Round 2 window closes on 09 August, the CET Cell will process preferences against the seat matrix. The provisional seat allotment result for round 2 is scheduled to be declared on 12 August 2026 on fe2026.mahacet.org. Candidates allotted a seat will then need to complete the acceptance process, and those receiving a seat for the first time in this round will have to pay the seat confirmation fee during the designated payment window.

- Log in using the application ID and password.
- Select colleges and courses, marking them in order of priority.
- Review all entries carefully, since choices cannot be modified once confirmed.
- Click “confirm” to lock the preferences and save a copy for reference.
