UGC NET June 2026 answer key: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer keys for the UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination for English, Commerce, and Sociology, and has invited challenges from candidates who have objections to any recorded answer.

The re-examination for these three subjects was conducted at various locations across the country on September 9 and 10. Candidates can now check the provisional answer keys and their recorded responses on the official website.

How to Raise a Challenge?

Candidates who wish to contest any answer can do so by paying a processing fee of Rs 200 per question. According to the official notice, challenges will be accepted only through the online mode. Submissions made through any other channel — including email, fax, or letter — or without payment of the prescribed fee, will not be accepted.

Challenge Window and Fee Payment

The challenge window will remain open until September 13, up to 11:59 PM. Candidates can pay the processing fee through debit card, credit card, or net banking, and payment must be completed within the same deadline.

No challenge will be entertained without the fee being paid, and challenges will be accepted only through the official website during this designated window.

What Happens After a Challenge Is Raised?

Challenges submitted by candidates will be verified by designated subject matter experts. If a challenge is found to be correct on merit, the provisional answer key will be revised, and all candidates’ responses for that subject will subsequently be evaluated against the revised final answer key.

Importantly, if a challenge is accepted, the correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates appearing for that subject — meaning candidates do not need to raise the same challenge more than once, since one successful challenge benefits the entire candidate pool for that question.

Refund Policy for Accepted Challenges

The processing fee of Rs 200 per question will be refunded in full for every challenge that is accepted by the subject experts, effectively making it cost-free for candidates who raise valid objections.

Final Answer Key and Result Declaration

NTA has clarified that the answer key finalised after considering all challenges will be treated as final. No further challenge or grievance regarding the answer key will be entertained once the challenge window closes or after the result is declared.

The agency also stated that individual decisions on each challenge will not be communicated separately to candidates. However, the revised final answer key will be published on the official website before the result declaration, allowing candidates to check for themselves whether any of their challenges were accepted.

This re-examination for English, Commerce, and Sociology was conducted after errors were found in the original papers during the June 2026 UGC-NET cycle, prompting NTA to hold a fresh test for these three subjects specifically, separate from the results already declared for the remaining subjects.
