WBJEE Counselling 2026: The long journey from examination hall to college campus is about to enter its most decisive phase for West Bengal’s engineering aspirants. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has officially confirmed that WBJEE Counselling 2026 registration will commence on June 30, 2026, and a detailed notification containing the complete schedule is expected to be published on the official portal very shortly.
“Centralised counselling registration for candidates who have qualified in WBJEE-2026 will start on and from 30th June 2026. A detailed notification along with the complete counselling schedule will be published shortly,” reads the official announcement on the WBJEEB website.

This is the moment every qualified candidate has been preparing for since the result was declared. Your WBJEE 2026 rank alone does not secure a seat — it is your counselling registration, choice filling, and timely fee payment that will ultimately place you in a B.Tech, B.Pharma, or B.Arch seat at one of West Bengal’s premier institutions.
The Road That Led Here — WBJEE 2026 at a Glance
Before turning attention to counselling, it helps to understand the scale of this year’s examination cycle. The WBJEE 2026 examination was conducted on May 24, 2026, with around 1.2 lakh students registering for the exam. Shaswat Banerjee secured AIR 1 in WBJEE 2026, as confirmed at the official result press conference, where WBJEEB authorities also announced that counselling registration would begin by June 29–30.
WBJEEB conducts the OMR-based examination for admission to undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture across different universities, government colleges, and self-financing engineering and technological institutes in West Bengal for the academic session 2026-27.
Who Is Eligible for WBJEE Counselling 2026?
Not everyone who appeared in the WBJEE 2026 exam automatically qualifies for the counselling process. Eligibility is clearly defined for the WBJEE Counselling 2026:
Candidates must hold a valid rank in WBJEE 2026 or a valid score in JEE Main 2026 and must have qualified Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates applying for B.Arch must additionally qualify for NATA or JEE Main Paper 2. Importantly, there is no EWS reservation under WBJEE counselling.
JEE Main qualified candidates are eligible for allotment only in 10% approved seats offered by self-financing colleges and institutes participating in the state-level counselling. They are not eligible for seats in government engineering colleges through the JEE Main route alone.
Regarding state domicile, West Bengal domicile candidates are eligible for both the 85% State Quota and the 15% All India Quota seats, while non-West Bengal domicile candidates can only compete for the 15% All India Quota seats.
How the WBJEE Counselling 2026 Registration Process Works
The WBJEE Counselling 2026 registration link will be available on the official website wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates must note that for all rounds of allotment, there is only one registration period. No registration will be allowed after the last date, making it absolutely critical to register as soon as the portal opens on June 30.
Here is a step-by-step walkthrough of the complete process for WBJEE Counselling 2026 once the portal goes live:
- Visit the official WBJEEB counselling portal at wbjeeb.nic.in or wbjeeb.in
- Click on “New Candidate Registration” and choose whether to register via WBJEE 2026, JEE Main 2026, or both
- Those applying through WBJEE 2026 must enter their application number, roll number, name, and date of birth. Candidates with a JEE Main rank must enter their respective JEE Main details
- Pay the non-refundable counselling registration fee of Rs 500 online via debit card, credit card, or net banking
- Proceed to choice filling — browse available colleges and courses and arrange them in your strict order of preference
- Lock your choices before the deadline — unlocked choices are treated as incomplete and are not considered for allotment
- Download the confirmation of registration and choice submission for your records
WBJEEB recommends filling a minimum of 20 choices to maximise allotment chances. A well-researched preference list of 20 or more college-course combinations significantly improves the probability of securing a seat in a desirable institution.
Understanding the WBJEE 2026 Seat Acceptance Process
Once seat allotment is announced, candidates face a three-way decision that carries lasting consequences. After the WBJEE 2026 seat allotment result is declared, candidates must choose one of three options — Accept, Reject, or Upgrade — before the final deadline. If candidates want to accept or upgrade their allotment, they must pay the WBJEE 2026 seat acceptance fee of Rs 5,000 through net banking, credit card, or debit card. Failure to pay the seat acceptance fee will lead to automatic cancellation of the allotted seat.
For Round 2 — which functions as an upgradation round — fresh registrations or new choice filling are not allowed. Candidates who opt for upgradation cannot revert to their previous allotment if they are not upgraded to a higher preference. This makes the initial choice-filling exercise absolutely critical.
The seat acceptance fee of Rs 5,000 is refundable if students withdraw during the second round within the prescribed withdrawal window. If they fail to meet the refund criteria, the fee will be forfeited.
Documents to Keep Ready Before June 30
Since the detailed schedule and document checklist will be published shortly by WBJEEB, candidates should proactively prepare the following based on standard WBJEE Counselling 2026 requirements:
Documents typically required during WBJEE Counselling 2026 verification include: Class 10 admit card or birth certificate for date of birth verification, Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, WBJEE 2026 Rank Card, domicile or residence certificate, caste or category certificate (if applicable), income certificate (if applicable), recent passport-size photographs, and a valid Aadhaar card or government-issued photo ID.
What Comes After Seat Allotment?
After accepting the WBJEE Counselling 2026 allotted seat and paying the acceptance fee, candidates must report to their allotted institute for document verification and payment of tuition fees to complete the final admission formalities. The final admission status is compiled by WBJEEB and shared with the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of West Bengal.
