The Union Public Service Commission is conducting the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 today, May 24. Lakhs of candidates across the country are appearing for one of India’s most prestigious competitive examinations. The exam is being held in two sessions at designated centres nationwide for 933 vacancies.
The UPSC released the CSE Prelims admit card on May 15 at upsc.gov.in. Candidates downloaded their hall tickets using their registration ID or roll number. The Paper 1 covering General Studies was held in the morning session, and Paper 2 on CSAT is scheduled for the afternoon session.
Candidates were advised to reach their exam centres at least 30 minutes before the reporting time. They must carry a printed admit card along with a valid photo identity proof. Electronic devices, mobile phones, and smartwatches are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
The UPSC Prelims is the first stage of the Civil Services Examination, followed by the Mains and Interview rounds. The preliminary exam result is expected to be declared within a few weeks. Candidates who qualify will proceed to the Mains examination later this year.
