Graduate job seekers have one of the biggest government recruitment opportunities of the year, as the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC CGL 2026 notification for 12,256 vacancies. The notification, released on 21 May 2026, covers various Group B and Group C posts in central government ministries, departments and offices.
The online application process started on 21 May 2026 and the last date to apply is 22 June 2026, with the fee payment deadline on 23 June 2026 and a correction window from 29 June to 1 July 2026. Posts include Assistant Section Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, Inspector in CBIC, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Sub-Inspector in CBI, Junior Statistical Officer, Auditor and more. This year SSC has reintroduced the popular Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) posts and introduced sectional timing in Tier 1 and Tier 2. The Tier 1 exam is expected in August–September 2026.
For aspirants, SSC CGL remains one of the most preferred routes to a stable central government career. Candidates registered on the old SSC website must create a new One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new portal, complete profile authentication and apply early.
