The Union Education Ministry has stepped in over the growing controversy around CBSE’s digital evaluation system, seeking a detailed report from CBSE on the Class 12 re-evaluation chaos and directing the IITs to help fix the technical glitches. The intervention follows widespread complaints from students and parents over the board’s post-result services.
Students reported receiving blurred, sometimes illegible scanned answer sheets, while others said entire responses appeared unmarked by examiners. The issues affected the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system and the re-evaluation portal, raising serious concerns at a time when lakhs of Class 10 and Class 12 students are deciding whether to apply for rechecking. To strengthen the system, CBSE is taking help from two IITs for the portal and four public sector banks for payment gateway infrastructure, after technical issues led to incorrect fee deductions.

For students, the ministry’s action signals that grievances are being taken seriously. Aspirants are advised to rely only on official CBSE communication, use the extended deadlines to submit applications, and avoid acting on unverified social media claims.
